Author Interview: Elaine Raco Chase

So excited! This week on WLB I have Elaine Raco Chase. I have been working my way through her audio books and they are all so much fun. Her novel Double Occupancy has been on Facebook's "What to Read After 50 Shades of Grey" list for 34 weeks.

About Double Occupancy:
All Casey Reynolds wanted was peace and quiet and a long vacation from covering the crime beat in Boston. That's why she agreed to borrowing a villa in Mexico to rest, be alone and work on her novel.

But then he showed up -- Travis Craig. He said he was offered the villa to recover from a serious illness. He had just lost his teaching job and had no money to leave.

She agreed with his plan to share the house -- but on her terms. Soon rest and relaxation were a thing of the past when their double occupancy proved too erotic to control.

The Questions:

Describe your ideal writing space. How does it compare to reality?
What a great question! My ideal writing space would be: large horse-shoe desk...a couple of monitors (not overly big), love my solar keyboard and Toshiba computer... the view: ocean view with desks situated so I can dream my scenes but the windows would have to be glare free. Reality: well we live in an apartment, I have the worlds messiest desk, lots of old furniture that is comfy..a few of a field....and bookcases...an author always needs bookcases!

What is the first story you remember writing and what was it about?
For my high school newspaper, it was a serial mystery over 4 months called Terror in the Night. A teenage girl who stumbles into a murder on the football field.

Name a memorable book from your childhood. Why is it memorable?
It's the book that made me want to be a writer: Green Mansions by Hudson. We had to read it for class...over the summer...it transported me from Schenectady, NY to the Amazon jungle.. I think I read it 4 times...

If you could ask any writer (living or dead) a question, who would it be and what would you ask?
Agatha Christie - tell me where and how you came up with those fabulous characters

If you could pick any of the worlds or characters you have created, which would you want to visit or spend a day with?
I'd head to Mexico and spend a fun day with Travis and Casey of Double Occupancy

What is one thing you like to do when you are not reading or writing?
I love watching old TV shows: Perry Mason, original Mission Impossible, Dragnet.... love old black and white movies as well.

What are you currently working on?
Caught in a Trap - an erotic romantic comedy with probably my funniest heroine, Kit Forrester - who lives in a world of lies. She conjures up the man of her dreams and he shows up...boy does he. Women will love ex-Navy Seal Rafe Morgan. He's tough, funny, and knows what he wants...and he wants Kit Forrester. It's based on A Dream Come True one of my print published Ecstasy Novels...now I can expand on it and put in all the material that wasn't 'allowed' back then.

Bio:

If you like sassy, laugh out loud, contemporary romances - some more explicit than others - you have found the right author!
Reviewers have called them: "cat & mouse" - "slow burn" - "hot and steamy" - "highly addicting" - "solid characters & lots of humor" - "amazing reads!"
I call them fun! My heroines are NOT: thin, petite, clueless or submissive. They are strong women who aren't looking for a man - until the right one comes along!
And those men! Tough-guy, alpha males who don't know what hit them! But do know they want MORE!
Whether you read my erotic romantic comedies (updated eBooks), my updated 'steamy' romantic eBooks, or my classic eBooks – remember there's never an expiration date on Romance!
I'm excited to announce: Double Occupancy has been on Facebook's "What to read after 50 Shades of Grey Top 50 book list" for over 30 weeks (1/29/2013)

And Turning Pages just announced that Rules of The Game (updated eBook edition only) was voted best erotic romance novel of 2012 from their website (http://ow.ly/hcbhL)
Exciting news for audiobook lovers: One Way or Another (classic romance audiobook) was audible.com's "Best Reviewed Romance for October 2012"  narrator: Janina Edwards
And Special Delivery, which has been on audibles erotic romance bestseller list since its debut in August, 2012, was #4 out of 10 Top reviewed romance novels for 2012! (PS it was the only audiobook not from a major publishing house!) narrators: award-winning team of Destiny Landon & Lee James from Bella Czar Productions.
I also write erotic mystery/thriller's. My non-fiction "How to write the Amateur Detective Novel" which was nominated for the Agatha Christie Award is in the FBI Forensic Library at Quantico.
