Historical Romance Review: His Wicked Wish by Olivia Drake

Description:
MARRIAGE TO A NOBLEMAN? NOT IN HER WILDEST DREAMS. . .

The daughter of a disgraced woman and a common actor, Madelyn Swann has been shunned by the nobility. No proper lady would traipse about on a Covent Garden stage, let alone sell herself at auction to the highest bidder. So why in heaven’s name would Nathan Atwood, Viscount Rowley, make a generous offer for her hand?

Turns out Maddy is exactly the type of woman Nathan wants as his wife. Finally, he can embarrass his snobbish and cruel father, the Earl of Gilmore—and scandalize London society—with his beautiful, unsuitable bride. Then he’ll depart England forever and leave his wife behind. Having secret plans of her own, Maddy is happy to play the role … only to find that enjoying her husband’s seduction requires no acting whatsoever. But as she falls madly in love with Nathan, can she persuade him to stay with her for always?

My Thoughts:

Nathan and Maddy were a lot of fun to read. She's auctioning her virginity because she has a plan and she needs the money. He needs a completely scandalous and embarrassing wife to annoy his father. It's a perfect solution for both of them.  This was funny and very enjoyable to read. I just loved the characters. I've read a few of the Cinderella Sisterhood novels and have enjoyed them all, but they stand alone and you can start anywhere.

Review: Bella and the Beast by Olivia Drake

Description:
Bella Jones' father, Sir Seymour Jones, was an explorer/adventurer who revealed to her on his deathbed that the late Duke of Aylwin, whom he helped inquire antiquities in Egypt, had promised him half of a pharaoh's treasure. However, Bella must find the map to the hidden trove to prevent her and her brother and sister from living in poverty.

Bella takes a job as a curator working for the late duke's son to help him catalogue his father's artifacts in London. She doesn't reveal who she is or what her motives are, but when the attraction between them because impossible to ignore, the issue of the hidden treasure becomes a more complicated secret than either of them could ever imagine.

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this one. Bella needs a job so she goes to work for Miles. He ends up being the one her father was trying to tell her about on his deathbed. There is an interesting mystery here. The romance was nice but it was a little hard to see how they got so close so quickly. Miles in particular changes his tune pretty quickly. Overall this was an enjoyable read that I think will appeal to historical romance lovers, particularly those who like some mystery.
