My Thoughts:
The story picks up from a previous book, and since I hadn't read it, I was a little lost for a while. There are many characters and it took a while to get everything straight. I liked the story, though. Kennedy's adoptive parents sent her to facility to be experimented on. She is rescued and finds out she has a brother and he takes her in and introduces her to his colony of cat shifters. She had never realized there were other were-lynxes until she was sent to be experimented on. She gets to know Asher, but they both have issues that makes a relationship difficult. I thought she trusted him pretty quickly, though, given her past. It is sweet with some suspense mixed in and if you like shifters this is a nice quick fix.

Today Lynn Crandall is answering my questions. She is the author of Dancing with Detective Danger. This is a great romantic suspense and you can see my review here.

Interview with Lynn Crandall:

Describe your ideal writing space. How does it compare to reality?
Oh wow, what a fun question to answer. I like fantasy. My ideal writing space would be a second-story room that has lots of windows. The windows would be large and open to a view of a natural setting, with water and trees and fields. The space would have my desk and computer, as well as a couch and comfy chair. And a fireplace. But I would just as much enjoy an office located in a building in a downtown, with windows I could see out into an urban setting. Either way, there would always be coffee nearby.

My actual writing space makes me happy even though it is on the first floor in my home. It has a small window to my backyard, where a variety of birds congregate to eat from bird feeders and drink from bird baths. In warm weather, the bird baths attract stray cats, too. N-e-way…I do actually write in this space, not just stare out the window.


What is the first story you remember writing and what was it about?
Funny. My first stories I didn’t actually write down, they were concocted in my head to entertain my younger sister and they mysteries and sci-fi. My first official written story…it was a play I wrote and performed with a friend for our church, believe it or not, when I was 12.


Name a memorable book from your childhood. Why is it memorable?
My mother gave me a set of Childcraft books and I loved many of the stories in those books, as well as the illustrations. The set included books of poetry and fairytales. I enjoyed the fairytales the most. I like fantasy, but in the fairytales I liked reading about characters who triumphed over obstacles. I’m not saying childhood was difficult, but seriously, doesn’t every child want a good story of triumph?


If you could ask any writer (living or dead) a question, who would it be and what would you ask?
Great question. I admire Jane Austen, so I’d like to sit down with her and pick her brain, just in general. Question? Why did you start putting words down on paper?


If you could pick any of the worlds or characters you have created, which would you want to visit or spend a day with?
I enjoy the world of an independent career woman and both my books, Silver Wings and Dancing with Detective Danger, are set in that kind of world. I feel I know the challenges and struggles of those characters very well, so it would be interesting to follow them around and see how they’re doing now that they’ve had resolution of some of their inner conflicts.


What is one thing you like to do when you are not reading or writing?
I enjoy hiking. It’s where I can interface with nature. But I could easily have said eating.


What are you currently working on?
Dancing with Detective Danger is the first book that focuses on the Aegar sisters, Sterling (the heroine) and her sister Lacey. I’m presently working on the “Lacey book,” which follows the story of her challenges of living life without her husband. Though he is dead in the first book, her husband is very present in her life and the second story explores how she goes on – with or without him.


About the author:
I started spinning stories as a child when I tried to entertain my younger sister at night when we were supposed to be going to sleep. In the dark, my stories typically took on a scary or paranormal element -- didn't do much to put us to sleep. Today, I hope my stories still fail to put readers to sleep, but rather take them on a journey. That's what I've been on since I decided to make writing my focus. As a reporter and magazine feature writer, I truly enjoy learning as I work on stories. As a romance writer, I enjoy doing the research and following an evolving story of my characters. I'm still learning as I go.

My Thoughts:
After two years of being apart, Sterling and Ben meet at the scene of a murder. For Ben, it's as if they had never been apart. Pain and loss from Sterling's past is preventing her from being with the person she loves, to keep herself from getting hurt again. But seeing Ben every day is making it harder to keep her distance from him, physically and emotionally. A moving second chance romance with gripping suspense and an intriguing mystery mixed in. Then there is Sterling's sister Lacey who is a great character, but has such a sad story. Luckily, Lacey will get her own book to have her story told. I can't wait to check it out!
