As for Amanda – she has choices to make. A new, exciting love? Or a best friend whose benefits she's begun to dream about.

My Thoughts:
Amanda and Lucas have been best friends for twelve years. When Lucas comes to visit after not seeing one another for two years, they start to discover feelings they never noticed before. But will getting together ruin their friendship? Then a new guy steps into the picture and Amanda has some decisions to make. This was a lot of fun, with 80's fashions and decorating, bantering between comfortable friends, and plenty of steam.  They were both great characters and I was rooting for them to get together, waiting for them to get their act together already. But they had to adjust to seeing one another in a new way. 

Jill Arehart did a nice job on the narration. She has a great voice for it. She brings the characters to life and does an admirable job with the French that is thrown in.

But then he showed up -- Travis Craig. He said he was offered the villa to recover from a serious illness. He had just lost his teaching job and had no money to leave.

She agreed with his plan to share the house -- but on her terms. Soon rest and relaxation were a thing of the past when their double occupancy proved too erotic to control.

My Thoughts: 
This was a fun book. Casey is escaping her life and goes to Mexico to work on her novel. Then Travis shows up. They are instantly attracted to one another, but she has too many insecurities to get involved right away. They become friends, but they find it impossible to stay that way for long. I enjoyed the fun banter, and of course there is lots of steam.
The narration is easy to listen to. There are two narrators and it makes the male and female points of view easy to distinguish. They both have very soothing voices. The music at the beginning of each chapter is a nice touch.

The Questions:

Describe your ideal writing space. How does it compare to reality?
What a great question! My ideal writing space would be: large horse-shoe desk...a couple of monitors (not overly big), love my solar keyboard and Toshiba computer... the view: ocean view with desks situated so I can dream my scenes but the windows would have to be glare free. Reality: well we live in an apartment, I have the worlds messiest desk, lots of old furniture that is comfy..a few of a field....and bookcases...an author always needs bookcases!

What is the first story you remember writing and what was it about?
For my high school newspaper, it was a serial mystery over 4 months called Terror in the Night. A teenage girl who stumbles into a murder on the football field.

Name a memorable book from your childhood. Why is it memorable? 
It's the book that made me want to be a writer: Green Mansions by Hudson. We had to read it for class...over the summer...it transported me from Schenectady, NY to the Amazon jungle.. I think I read it 4 times...

If you could ask any writer (living or dead) a question, who would it be and what would you ask?
Agatha Christie - tell me where and how you came up with those fabulous characters

If you could pick any of the worlds or characters you have created, which would you want to visit or spend a day with? 
I'd head to Mexico and spend a fun day with Travis and Casey of Double Occupancy

What is one thing you like to do when you are not reading or writing?
I love watching old TV shows: Perry Mason, original Mission Impossible, Dragnet.... love old black and white movies as well.

What are you currently working on? 
Caught in a Trap - an erotic romantic comedy with probably my funniest heroine, Kit Forrester - who lives in a world of lies. She conjures up the man of her dreams and he shows up...boy does he. Women will love ex-Navy Seal Rafe Morgan. He's tough, funny, and knows what he wants...and he wants Kit Forrester. It's based on A Dream Come True one of my print published Ecstasy Novels...now I can expand on it and put in all the material that wasn't 'allowed' back then.

My Thoughts:
What a fun read! Serious, genius, Virginia never has any fun. Her friend convinces her to go to a masquerade party, she has a steamy time on a balcony with a bandit until the clock strikes midnight and she runs off like a fluffy-tailed Cinderella. Then the bandit turns out to be her new co-worker and she and her friend invent a twin. So funny. Things do get more serious, but I was satisfied by how things turned out.
The narration for the audio is fantastic. The narrator does a great job with the voices, Virginia's friend Diane in particular. Lots of fun to listen to.

My Thoughts: 
I loved this book, but I didn't realize I was going to need tissues. There were some fun, lighthearted, and steamy moments, but there were also some more serious issues. The characters had a lot to overcome. My heart was breaking. I do love a good second chance story, though. There are some great secondary characters that added to the story as well. And the narrator for the audio was fantastic.

My Thoughts:
This was funny and entertaining. Quintin accuses Stevie of having a relationship with his son, a teenage employee that she barely knows. Rob, the teen in question,  has a huge crush on his boss and Dad hatches a plot to make his son sick of her. Of course Dad and the boss end up falling in love in the process. Neither wants to hurt Rob. They both have visions of teen suicide and runaways and are afraid their relationship will push him over the edge, so they sneak around behind his back. Sort of a silly plot, but it is funny. Stevie's dates with Rob are hilarious. The narrator does a great job with it. Very enjoyable.

Her blonde hair was piled precariously on top of her head, held in place by a bright yellow pencil. A few flaxen wisps had escaped, teasing against a softly rounded face. Square blue-tinted eyeglasses highlighted even bluer eyes. She was smart, sassy, way too funny - and she had no idea she was all that.

When she pulled the pencil from her topknot, he watched her hair untangle and drift down to her shoulders, in a sexy-just-out-of-bed, mess-me-up-more tumble. Adam hadn't realized he was even holding his breath, until he coughed in relief.

Right now, she was mad! Her bare foot angrily tapping against the carpet. And way too sexy - he tried to blink that observation away. There was nothing left to do but apologize. But she had looked him straight in the eye and insulted him!

Even after two tours of duty in Fallujah, Adam wasn't sure he could handle a woman who: wrangled a team of SEALS for the Wounded Warrior Project; was banned from singing, humming, or playing golf, had an oven timer that played Beethoven's Fifth; loved all things chocolate way too much; preferred puppy kisses over his; and owned a moose named Morti.

There was only one thing for this Marine to do– man up, take her down and demand a zerbert – whatever the hell that was!

My Thoughts:
Great characters and lots of fun. I love Sam. She is fun, sassy, and quirky. She keeps Adam on his toes. I liked when he told her he needed to download Urban Dictionary to understand her. She's not afraid to tell him when he needs an attitude adjustment. And he takes it all in stride, which is why they are a great couple. If you like light, funny romance with some steam, I definitely recommend.

As for the audio, it was great. The narrator, Rachel Logan, was easy to listen to and she was just fantastic. I would look for other books narrated by her.

My Thoughts:
Pure fun. First, Roxanne has to dress as a harem girl to deliver a message because her employee gets hurt. Then she and the recipient of the message get snowed in and it is just the two of them, lots of funny banter, steam, and the question: How long does it take to fall in love with someone? The two characters were great and this was just a fun, entertaining story.

The audio was very well done. The two narrators were entertaining to listen to and the music and sound effects were a nice touch.

Vikki had sworn to her fellow cast mates on Always Tomorrow that she would protect their secrets by being the sexy, unscrupulous siren on-camera and off - to the hilt. Making sure that investigative reporter Dan Falkner would focus on the illusion rather than the sweet, shy woman Vikki really was.

There was just one problem -- Vikki never imagined how easy it would be to enjoy being a vixen and take what she wanted. And she found she wanted Dan Falkner more than she had ever wanted any man.

My Thoughts:
I loved watching Dan try to figure out Vikki/Vixen. When Dan comes to do a story on show, her castmates are afraid of their secrets coming out, so they try to distract him with Vixen, since Vikki has no secrets. And Vikki enjoys her role. There is lots of fun banter between them, and plenty of steam.

I listened to the audiobook. Sheila Book has the perfect voice for this one. She is a great narrator, I just wish she would stop casting "aspirations" on people's character. She could also use a tiny pause sometimes when switching POV because it can get a bit confusing. Other than that, the narration is excellent.

Her relaxed appraisal hadn't gone unnoticed by either the man or the large tiger. The latter proved her undoing. His mouth opened not to snarl again but to emit a long, loud, kittenish yawn. The tiger rolled over, rubbed his back and shoulders into the ground, his hind legs spread-eagle, yawned again, and pawed sleepily at his face. To the amazement of everyone, his sword-like teeth fell out.
"Damn it, Pumpkin, why couldn't you have just growled!" She extended her hand. "Cam Stirling, action technician." At his confused expression, she sighed. "Stunt woman."
She was wild, irresistible - and he was the man to tame her. She dared the devil every day - why not Luthor Devlin!

My Thoughts:
I thought it was a cute story. Cam is a stunt woman and Thor is attracted to her right away, but he has a problem with how dangerous her job is. He really struggles with that, wanting to protect her. Cam is a strong woman who can take care of herself and makes no apologies about it. If he has a problem with it, then it is his problem. She is very patient with him, though, while he tries to get a grip. The story has lots of humor and plenty of steam.

The audio has two narrators, which is nice to differentiate between the male and female characters and points of view. The male narrator in particular is very good at voicing different characters. Both had moments where they sounded a bit stilted, but overall it was very well done. There is music between chapters which is nice, but personally I don't find it necessary. Music and sound effects during the story tend to distract me a bit, but that is a personal preference, and it was only one scene. Overall a very enjoyable listen.

One Way or Another by Elaine Raco Chase

One Way or Another was the original title of my second novel, Tender Yearnings, number 19 in the Dell Ecstasy Romance line published in 1981. It went into a record second printing after just one month!
I actually wrote the novel because I was told not to - that romance readers didn't want books where the heroine had a family, especially when they appeared in the same novel. How silly! So Abigail Wetherby was born, along with her mother and sister. Not only that, but my hero, Nick Maxwell came equipped with a father who fell in love with Abby's mom.
When I wrote this story, credit cards were just beginning to grow, the economy was still in trouble, gas cost a fortune, and computers were run by punch cards. I even mentioned the latest craze: having a home computer that printed on green and white paper! (I resisted getting a computer until 1988!)
I hope you will fall in love with this "contemporary classic" and enjoy a time capsule of the way we were.
Meet Abby, computer killer and prickly proprietress of the Cove Bookshop in Camden Cove, Virginia. She's a woman with many secrets, a mother and sister she fiercely protects, and a secluded, quiet life that has become a bit boring.
Enter Nick Maxwell, a man determined to bring Abby to her knees and into his arms - but he had more than a few secrets of his own.

My Thoughts:
This is a contemporary classic, meaning it was originally written in the '80's. Much of the story revolves around a credit card company (run by Nick) and Abby's hatred of them. It was fun to get that little peek into the past. I mean, a computer than runs on punch cards? A novelist who uses a typewriter? My children will never know a world without home computers and credit cards, so I enjoyed that aspect of the story.

I liked the characters Nick and Abby. They were so cute and connected right away, but you know that when someone is keeping secrets, it is going to come back and bite them. So I was holding my breath, waiting for that to happen. I just loved the story. There was plenty of heat, without being graphic. Lots of build-up.

I received an audio copy for review. It was enjoyable to listen to. The narrator, Janina Edwards, did an excellent job. She has a great voice and just became all of the characters. You know the narration is done well when it sort of fades into the background and all you hear is the story.

My Thoughts:
Fun, entertaining, and steamy. Griffen misunderstands the first times he sees Brandy and overhears her conversation with her boss. This colors the way he thinks about her and he continues to misinterpret what he sees and hears. Instead of setting him straight, Brandy decides to play along. Things get awkward when she ends up working for him. Funny, with plenty of tension and lots of steam.

I was provided an audio copy for review and I enjoyed it. The narrator did a nice job, but it is clear that she cannot do a British accent. She did muddle through the brief conversation that called for one. Overall an enjoyable listen.
