Werewolf Cinderella by Amanda Milo - Blog Tour

Werewolf Cinderella

by Amanda Milo
Publication Date: September 10, 2019
Genres: Adult, Romance, Fantasy

Purchase: Amazon

Every eligible female *must* attend the ball by decree of the king. On account of my tendency to suddenly turn from a woman into a wolf, I’d really prefer if I wasn’t being forced into attending. Anger burns in my throat, making me growl. Stepmother covers my hand with hers, gently squeezing my fingers. That’s my stepmother. Grace above all; even under fire… or the threat of a noose. She’s a better woman than I. What? You thought the rumors were true? That she’s my wicked stepmother, who’s kept me as her indentured servant under the stairs? Oh my friend, you don’t know the half of this story. To tell it, I’d best begin at the beginning.

About Amanda Milo

Amanda and her better half enjoy hiking the trails near their home. They take their dogs and leave the ferret–most of the time. The ferret is their ‘poor man’s otter’. Amanda has been researching otters as pets. They’re not going to *get* one, but she loves to dream. When she’s not entertaining grand plans to smuggle wildlife into their bathtub, Amanda can be found with the keyboard on her lap and her next story on the screen.

Review: Must Love Lions by Alma Black

Description:

Alexis Parrish is very single. Sassy and smart, she's great at her job as a journalist, but it's never given her the time to find the right man--specifically, a human. So when she gets assigned to interview Max, a lion shifter, about the new dating app he's created, she can't believe her intense attraction to him. After all, humans and shifters don’t date. Max is used to causing trouble. He broke tradition by creating the paranormal dating app, Shifter Date, which humans and shifters alike can use to answer the call of the wild.

When Max challenges Alexis to give him a chance, she can't say no. A human like her has no business with this handsome alpha lion, but she can't resist his magnetism. Their chemistry is primal, their connection positively animalistic. After all, once you go shifter, you never go back.

But when a rogue shifter group against interspecies dating targets Alexis, Max will stop at nothing to protect her. It's more than his pride on the line; it's his mate.

Warning: Must Love Lions is a paranormal shape-shifter romance. If sassy, sexy, and carnal reads aren't your thing, this book isn't for you. It contains lots of hot sex, a bit of violence, and a lot of witty banter.

My Thoughts:
Satisfying, quick paranormal romance read. Just the right amount of steam, humor, and sass. I enjoyed it. They do get past their issues pretty quickly, but it's a short book. I liked the characters and the shifter/human prejudice angle was interesting. I would read more of these books.

Excerpt:
“Wow, small world,” she said. Sly glanced back and forth between his little group and Amber. “You know each other?” “We’ve met briefly,” Rory said and smiled. Amber’s heart fluttered. Blond, willowy Morgaine rose. “I haven’t met your friends, Sly.” “I was just bringing them up to introduce them to you. Morgaine, these fine folks are our new tenants, Rory, Chloe, and Shannon Arish. They’re taking both apartments 2B and 1B. So, we’re full up,” he said, glancing at his wife and Amber. “No more vacancies.” Morgaine’s mouth dropped open. When she didn’t speak right away, Amber gestured to the papers in front of her. “I rented 1B. I think the ink just dried on my signed lease.” “Drake recommended the Arishes,” Sly said. “And Brandee recommended Amber,” Morgaine added. Sly stared at his wife. The two managers did the oddest thing. First Morgaine folded her arms. Then Sly placed his hands on his hips. Then Morgaine began tapping her foot. It was as if they were having a completely silent argument. What the… Rory and his sisters glanced at each other, looking equally confused. “But we paid…in cash,” Chloe said. She rubbed her fingers together, then glared at the check Amber had sitting on the table like it wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on. Amber returned her gaze to the stalemate between the managers. Were they able to argue with their eyes? Did they solve all their problems with a staring contest? Rory whispered to his sisters, “Do you think they’re telepathic?” Chloe and Shannon shrugged. That would be one explanation, Amber thought. One very weird explanation. “Look. I’m sorry, but I got here first, and I can’t lose this apartment,” Amber said to Rory. “My whole building is being renovated and turned into condos. Everyone has been evicted.” He cocked his head. “Well, I’m very sorry for your troubles, but I believe we have the right of it. We already paid first and last month’s rents on both apartments— in cash, as my sister mentioned.” At that point, Sly withdrew quite a wad of hundred- dollar bills from his pocket and held it out to Morgaine. She took a step back and shook her head as if the money were on fire. “This is the oddest spat I’ve ever witnessed,” Shannon muttered. Chloe chuckled. “We’ve seen some outrageous disputes, but you’re right. This one’s downright peculiar.” Morgaine leaned forward with her hands on her hips and stamped her foot. Finally, Sly rose to his full height and said, “In this country, possession is nine- tenths of the law.” Amber and Rory exchanged a look, and telepathy wasn’t needed to interpret what they were thinking. They both took off and charged down the stairs. Chloe and Shannon were right behind them.

Review: Sibilance by Aria Kane

Description:
Snake-shifter Sophia Samson is on the run with a knife-wound to the gut after her last con went belly up. With a mob man hot on her tail and her wound not healing like it should, she seeks refuge in her mother's childhood hometown, Woodland Creek. She slithers in through the back door of the urgent care clinic and charms the handsome doctor into treating her.

The shifters of Woodland Creek turn to Desmond Callahan, MD when they suffer from unique medical conditions, but when Sophia sneaks into his office with silver poisoning, it's obvious she has no idea there are other shifters in their small town. Desmond can tell Sophia doesn't want him to know she's a shifter - and that's not the only thing she's hiding. As a puca, Desmond has a few tricks of his own up his sleeve and he's not going to let the captivating Sophia slip out of his life so easily.

My Thoughts:
This was a fun shifter story. Sophia runs back to her hometown with a knife wound, running from a mobster. She doesn't realize that there are other shifters, let alone a whole town full of them. She meets Desmond who immediately knows what she is and he fixes her up, then insists on helping her further. He's sweet and she is prickly. An entertaining story with some interesting shifters that you don't always read about. It seemed a little rushed, but it is a fun, quick read.

Review: Claimed by the Mate by Kate Douglas and A.C. Arthur

Description:
THE ALPHA'S WOMAN (A Wolf Mates Novel) by A.C. Arthur
Kira Radney is all delicious curves and strong will and has no desire to be a subservient mate. When a member of her father's pack attempts to make her his mate by force, Kira has no choice but to flee. The last thing she wants is to submit to any male and their pack. But when her escape attempt leads her straight into the arms of an alpha wolf-a sexy, dangerous, protective alpha-Kira must fight against her need to be free, and her secret desire to be controlled...

FERAL PASSIONS (A Feral Passions Novel) by Kate Douglas
Welcome to Feral Passions, a luxurious private resort nestled in a preserve and staffed by dangerously sexy men, making it a haven for women who want to get away from it all. But Feral Passions is a front for a deeper, sexier secret-it's a hunting ground for these men. Men focused on meeting each woman's every need. Men who are also the beautiful wolves running wild...and who are looking for mates.

Chereza Dubios is more comfortable solving math equations than she is with her voluptuous body and meeting men. But when her younger sister and best friend trick her into vacationing at Feral Passions, Cherry finds herself attracted and torn between two men who find her curvy body and intelligent mind irresistible. Two men who share a secret-they want to share her.

But that takes trust-can Cherry open herself to love with two sensual and powerful werewolves?

My Thoughts:
Two very different stories about wolf shifters. In Feral passions Cherry dragged on vacation by her sister. Meets two hot men who seem to be interested in her. She's not used to the attention and she is very self conscious about her weight. Brad and Cain are sweet and also turn into wolves. This is an enjoyable, steamy read if you like shifters and ménage.
The Alpha's Woman is about Kira leaving her father's pack and trying to go off on her own. She doesn't want to be claimed by someone who just wants to take control of the pack through her. She runs right into another alpha, but he doesn't want to claim her, just protect her. Kira isn't used to this, especially the attention she gets, since everyone in her father's pack thought she was fat. This was very steamy but there was also action and some mystery. I enjoyed this one as well.

Review: Her Wild Hero by Paige Tyler

Description:
Name: Kendra Carlsen
Rank: Trainer, Dept. of Covert Ops
Objective: Get out of the office and into the field

Name: Declan MacBride
Rank: Munitions Expert, Dept. of Covert Ops
Status: Bear Shifter
Objective: Protect Kendra at all costs

The steamy Costa Rican jungle brings out the bear in Declan MacBride when he and new operative Kendra Carlsen are ambushed. In the midst of relying on each other to survive, and fighting his explosive attraction to Kendra, this shifter is about to lose control...

My Thoughts:
This is the first X-Ops book I've read but I enjoyed this one. Apparently Declan has had a thing for Kendra for quite some time but she never paid much attention to him. He's finally decided to give up on her but when they're trying to survive together in the jungle she finally starts to see him differently. I loved the two them. Declan has never really embraced his shifter side but Kendra accepts it completely and helps him to as well. Lots of steam and danger in the jungle. Loved this book. If you like shifter romances, you'll love this one!

“Looking too serious there, Stone.” Tina breezed by, her throwaway comment jerking him from his introspection. She expertly mixed some fruity concoction in a blender, added a liberal amount of alcohol and then poured it into the glasses she had arranged on a tray.

“Is looking serious against club policy?”

“It is on my shift.” She hefted the tray to shoulder height and prepared to make her way through the crowd. “I’ll be back in a few. I want to see you looking happier or I’ll have to take matters into my own hands.”

“I’m trembling with fear.”

“And so you should be.” She leaned closer and spoke in a whisper. “My spells have been known to bring a man to his knees.”

Review: The Werewolf Wears Prada by Kristin Miller #Giveaway

Description:

Melina Rosenthal worships at the altar of all things fashion. Her dream is to work for the crème de la crème fashion magazine, Eclipse, and she'll do much anything to get there. Even fixing up the image of a gorgeous, sexy public figure who's all playboy, all the time. Even if he's the guy who broke her heart a year ago...

Even if Hayden Dean is a werewolf.

Since his father's death, Hayden's the heir apparent to the San Francisco Wolf Pack—well, once he settles down. Hayden isn't interested in giving up his partying ways, except he's pretty sure he's found his fated mate, and the fact that she's a non-shifter is bad news. Now he must find a compromise between the traditions of his wolf world and his certainty that Melina is his...before fate (or another werewolf) bites them both in the butt.

My Thoughts:

I loved this. Hayden and Melina have an instant connection, but when they are supposed to go out, he stands her up and breaks her heart, making her hate him in the process. Later, they're thrown together when she's hired to write an article about him to improve his image. Hayden's torn. He wants her but doesn't want to put her in danger. He is frustrating but has his reasons. Melina is great. She doesn't make things easy on him. She tells him like it is and he's not used to that. I love this couple and enjoyed this take on werewolves. If you're a fan of romance with werewolves, check this one out.

Review: Vampire Trouble by Sara Humphreys

Description:
Shane Quesada, a four-century old vampire sentry, is known for cold, unemotional precision when hunting rogue vampires.

Maya Robertson is a youngling vampire who will not be controlled—and to prove it, she rejects Shane’s protection—only to find herself in over her head with an alpha werewolf.

Soon, a war between the coven and the werewolf clan ignites, and Maya and Shane flee to Louisiana, where their passion for each other grows—as does Maya’s power. When she finds herself at the center of the conflict, will she finally trust Shane with her life—and her heart?

My Thoughts:
I loved this one as much as the first. Sara Humphreys writes great characters. Maya is a youngling, turned only 5 years ago. Olivia saved her after she was brutally attacked and left for dead. She's a bit of a troublemaker. Shane is the serious Presidium sentry. Has been hanging around the Coven to stare at Maya. One night he gets pulled into one of Maya.s dreams. He hasn't dreamed in centuries, so he's pretty sure he knows what this means. Maya has some things to figure out. She doesn't even remember her human life and keeps reliving her last human night in her nightmares. Loved it and couldn't stop reading. Just so many good twists. This stands alone but I recommend reading the first. Olivia and Doug are a great couple and it will give you more background. We get to see them as the czars of New York in this one. They are great. I recommend this series to anyone who loves paranormal romance.

Review: Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris.

Description:
There are secrets in the town of Bon Temps, ones that threaten those closest to Sookie—and could destroy her heart...

Sookie Stackhouse finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance…and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.

Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.

But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough...

My Thoughts:
I was pleased with this conclusion to the Sookie Stackhouse series. This is book 13 and it starts a little slow and not in Sookie's point of view. There are actually several instances of third person throughout the book. Pretty much every character still living in Sookie's universe seems to make an appearance in this book. As Sookie is arrested for a murder she did not commit, she finds out just how much love and support she really has in her friends. While some people may not be pleased by the ending, it was pretty much as I predicted. I loved this series in the beginning, but it's been getting a little old over the last few books. I'm happy the end is here to have some closure.

Review - Compelled by Shawntelle Madison

Description:
For the past five years, Natalya Stravinsky has dreamed of two things: to rejoin the South Toms River werewolf pack and to be reunited with Thorn Grantham. Fate may have brought the pack back into her life, but unless she journeys to Russia to save Thorn, the love she’s found may be lost again. For a stubborn werewolf like Natalya, no distance is too far, no magic spell too complex to master, because one way or another she will find a way to have everything she has ever wanted.

My Thoughts:

So I jumped in and accidentally read the third book of a trilogy without reading the first two. I hate that. I wish I had read the first two, but this one was pretty good anyway. The world building and the characters were interesting, but I felt like I was missing quite a bit, because I was.

Natalya is an alpha female werewolf. Her husband is dying and she wants to find the cure to his curse.
She has quite an adventure, and learns quite a bit about magic with the help of some old friends and some new. Natalya has OCD and is a hoarder, which makes things interesting. I missed the first two books but she seems to have grown. I enjoyed this adventure with magic, magical creatures, and magical war. I just wished there had been more Thorn. She mentioned him quite a bit, but he was actually in the story very little.

Blog Tour Review and Giveaway: The Rising by Terra Harmony

Description:
Fifteen-year-old Serena is the youngest member of a dying race. The increasing acidity of the ocean is destroying her home, slowly eating away at the once thriving underwater landscape. But since the night of Serena’s birth, it is an outside force that most threatens their dwindling population. Werewolves, who once served as protectors for mermaids in the Kingdom of the Undine, now seek to eliminate all who dwell in the ocean—and Serena is about to find herself right in the middle of the deadly conflict.

Given the title of Werewolf Liaison, Serena is determined to make things right for her people. When she ventures to The Dry, she meets Liam, the werewolf with hazel eyes, and her whole world gets turned upside down. As Serena discovers the real history between werewolves and mermaids, she is left wondering who her true enemies are.

My Thoughts:
I loved this one. I was intrigued by the idea of mermaids and werewolves, but I was impressed by the details of the mermaid world. It was interesting to read about their society, the specifics of how they transform to walk on land, and their history. There are battles with werewolves and a trial and a bit of romance. I was immediately pulled into the story and now I can't wait to read the next. I am excited to see where the story goes from here. The cover is just stunning and really fits in with my vision from the story.

'The Rising' Excerpt (chapter one):
Claws skitter over loose gravel and Serena risks a glance over her shoulder. A mass of black fur stumbles over tangled hind legs, then goes sprawling into the bushes.
"I thought you were supposed to be faster than this!" Serena yells. Her laughter floats through the air like a melody, intensified by the quick thrumming of bare feet against the ground as she sprints away.
The hulking form bursts back onto the path, a spray of sharp branches and bits of leaves coming with him. Red eyes lock onto Serena. His animalistic growl leaves no question that he is angry. Serena looks forward, digging in for a faster run. The wind rips saltwater tears from the corners of her eyes. Breath comes in short bursts. Her lungs and the gills behind her ears pulsate, working to find oxygen where they can.
The trail curves ahead, and Serena teeters on the edge of the path, struggling to keep from flying off herself. When she brushes against sharp shrubbery, shallow cuts crisscross down her scaled legs like the sting of a jellyfish, etched into her very skin.
Serena breaks through the tree line onto the soft sand and slows her pace. Hot breath tingles against the back of her neck; the werewolf is close. She hadn’t expected the beast to be even faster on sand.
He snaps at her, his jaw almost reaching her long, inky black hair.
The greedy thing doesn't even wait until he has a sure kill. He swipes, tearing through armored scales on her calf, forcing Serena to stumble to her knees. Behind her, the werewolf leaps. Dropping down into a roll, she barely avoids yellow, razor-like teeth. Sand sticks to her open wounds. Claws sink into her shoulders, and the beast rolls with her, unwilling to surrender his prey. In the split second he is on top of her, Serena pushes up and out with powerful legs. Searing pain shoots through her calf in protest. The werewolf yelps as he spins head over tail. The sharp crack of a body breaking the surface of the water echoes across the beach.
Rough waves topple over fur as he struggles to regain his balance. The ocean pushes and pulls, growing in strength, as if working against the wolf.
Serena forces herself to her feet and brushes sand from the midnight blue scales along her legs and waist. Although breath still comes in hard bursts, she cracks another smile watching the mighty creature out of his element, and into hers. He drags himself out of the water, weighed down by his thick matted fur, and gasps for breath.
Skirting around the creature, Serena gives him a wide berth as she walks toward the ocean. Frothy waves reach out with promises of swallowing her whole. She succumbs to their grip and sinks into familiarity and freedom. Once she is bobbing up and down with the waves, she turns to look at the werewolf.
He shakes his fur, ridding himself of the salty sea water, then scans the surf. Their eyes lock, his flaring bright red again. He turns them toward the moon, lifts his snout in the air, and howls.
Chills crawl down the back of Serena's neck, goose bumps only held at bay with the ocean lapping at her shoulders. Serena cringes, then flicks her freshly formed fins, spraying water onto the hound. His howl ends with a sharp yelp as he stumbles back.
Serena turns, flinging her body up before plunging down again, diving into the cold, dark water.

Review: Dead Sexy Dragon by Lolita Lopez

Dead Sexy Dragon (The Dragon Heat Series #1) by Lolita Lopez

Description:
The last thing dragon shifter Stig Wyvern needs is his dead friend’s kid sister showing up on his doorstep. He’s just minutes away from entering a mating phase. Sharing his isolated house with the young woman he’s desperately lusted after for quite some time is a recipe for disaster.

But Cora Cardenas has nowhere else to go. She’s in deep trouble with some really nasty people and Stig is the only one who can protect her. That he’s deliciously sexy and makes her tingle with the simplest of smiles is just a bonus.

Cora quickly realizes Stig is hiding something from her. To make matters worse, she’s plagued with breathtakingly naughty dreams starring a shadowed lover who bears a startling resemblance to her host. And just what the hell is going on down in the basement at night?

Stig needs to get Cora out of his house but his inner beast has other ideas. He’s found his mate and she’s not going anywhere..

My Thoughts:
A short, sizzling shifter book. It is very short and there is not much actual story. The story line is pretty basic, with just the bare minimum of plot and some hints at characters for future books in the series. But if you like a short, hot read, you'll be satisfied. The dragon shifter aspect was interesting, but not incredibly developed. I am interested to read the next in the series.
