The Lazarus Vector

Resurrection in the Bronx Sends Professor into an Underworld of Corporate Conspiracies

When Professor Clare Malley, a medievalist teaching at a Catholic university in New York City, is asked to discover why sixteen-year-old Jonas Crosswell did not die in a drug-related shoot-out at a neighborhood church, the last thing she expects is a modern-day miracle. But how else to explain how the boy survived multiple gunshot wounds? Was it a miracle performed by the mysterious Father Enoch? Or did St. Lazarus himself intervene? And what does Jonas's experience have to do with Sean, the troubled heir to a pharmaceutical fortune who vanished after he was also supposedly miraculously cured? When Clare tries to discover whether there is a connection between Jonas and Sean, she uncovers an all-too-real, unholy conspiracy to use neighborhood drug dealers as unknowing guinea pigs. Sean may be the only one who can answer her questions and the only one who can truly touch her heart.

There are three places you can find Erica when she’s not writing: on a hiking trail, in her garden, or at the back of the pack in her local road race. Her favorite kind of vacation is backpacking across Dartmoor or among the hills of Wales in order to find new and exciting legends about Druids, fairy folk and unsolved mysteries to inspire her own writing. After she graduated from Yale University, this interest in folkore and legend led her to an M.A. in Creative Writing from City College of New York and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the City University of New York, where she published articles and a book about female folklorists of the nineteenth century before she decided she’d rather be writing the stories herself.

Along with their macaw Fasolt and a rotating assortment of cats, she and her husband divide their time between New York City and Woodstock, where they spend far too much time gardening – growing native woodland plants, roses, and old-fashioned cottage favorites, while fighting the chipmunks for the fruits of their kitchen garden – and losing. She is passionately committed to finding new and exciting recipes and eating with the seasons, although it’s abundantly clear that if she and her husband actually have to live off the land, they’d die. Check out some pictures on her website, beginning on St. David’s Day (Mar.1.)

As for her supremely untalented running, well, it gives her a chance to relax and think about her novels, even if, when she’s training for a marathon, it literally takes all day – as does walking the 2 miles back and forth from her apartment in Manhattan to Fordham University, where she teaches writing.

Paranormal Review: Stifled by Rainy Kaye

Description:
Dimitri would like nothing more than to live a low-key life in Naples, Italy. His girlfriend, Syd, has other plans.

After three months of researching, she is positive she has found a jinn on a killing spree in San Diego, California. Since Syd gave Dimitri the one thing he thought was out of reach, he feels obligated to use his ill-gained talents for her cause.

A few hours back in the US proves that Dimitri and Syd didn't quite make the clean escape they had thought. As they trail the elusive jinn, someone else trails them. What should have been a simple trip to confirm once and for all if the jinn are living among humans, instead reveals a community keeping dark secrets.

Unfortunately for Dim, the only way out is in.

My Thoughts:

You really should read Summoned first. Dimitri was freed from the genie bond by his girlfriend Sydney and they are living in Italy. But now she is pulling him back in when she finds a jinn killing in the U.S. Dimitri reluctantly agrees to help her. I loved the story and the characters. Dimitri's point of view is very entertaining. He is pretty funny. He used to kill and steal for a living but he was never very good at it. He is always getting hurt. I enjoyed both books.

Paranormal Book Review: The Curse of Tenth Grave by Darynda Jones

Description:
As a Part-time PI and fulltime grim reaper, Charley Davidson has asked a lot of questions throughout her life: Why can I see dead people? Who is the hot supernatural entity following me? How do I get gum out of my sister’s hair before she wakes up? But, “How do I trap not one malevolent god, but three?” was never among them. Until now. And since those gods are on earth to kill her daughter, she has little choice but to track them down, trap them, and cast them from this dimension.

There’s just one problem. One of the three stole her heart a very long time ago. Can the Razer, a god of absolute death and destruction, change his omniscient spots, or will his allegiances lie with his brothers?

Those are just a few of the questions Charley must answer, and quick. Add to that a homeless girl running for her life, an innocent man who’s been charged with murder, and a pendant made from god glass that has the entire supernatural world in an uproar, and Charley has her hands full. If she can manage to take care of the whole world-destroying-gods thing, we’re saved. If not, well…
My Thoughts:
This is the tenth Charley Davidson book and somehow they keep getting better. Charley and Reyes are keeping huge secrets from each other.Charley is still working out her powers and solving cases. There is plenty of P.I. work in this one. She is also trying to keep Beep safe. There were of course some funny moments that I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Charley is as funny as ever. I just loved this one and cannot wait for the next.

Meet Roberta Kagan

HI, I am an American author of Historical Fiction and Holocaust novels. My mother was Jewish and her father was Romany and therefore I grew up with  memories of the Holocaust hovering over me.  I write in this genre in the hopes that maybe through recognizing past mistakes we can find a way to stop the genocides that are still going on today. Thank you for taking the time to read my work. Blessings to you.

A Hunter’s Moon hung high in the sky and lit up the night. The temperature hovered in the low forties, but the thirty-five mile per hour wind created a chill-factor much colder. Tizzy wished she’d grabbed a coat before she left the house. The backless dress proved to be a poor selection. Thanks to a text from Jinx, she knew exactly where Ridge was parked on Lide. Not that she would have any trouble locating the old Chevy. But, at least she wouldn’t have to drive up and down the street looking for him and risk him seeing her first. Once she angled to the curb, she sat in her car for a few minutes and watched him. There wasn’t much activity. The cold wind kept the Johns at home and the girls off the street. Tizzy straightened her blonde wig and decided the time was right to make her move. She was almost to his window when Ridge noticed her. He rolled it down and she leaned in. “Hey cowboy, need a date?” “Jesus, Tizzy. Do you ever listen to anything I say?” “The name’s Velvet and are you sure you don’t want some company?” “Cut the crap. What are you doing here? I thought we agreed. Made compromises.” “If we’re going to have a long conversation, may I please get inside? I have a full nipple alert.” She stuck out her chest. Ridge gulped for air. “No. You need to leave and we’ll talk about this when I get home.” “Okay, if that’s the way you want it.” She rose to her full height, started to leave but stopped and leaned into the window again. “Just one more question. Would you be less mad if you knew I wasn’t wearing any panties?”
