Review: The Viscount's Christmas Temptation by Erica Ridley

Description:
Certain individuals might consider Lady Amelia Pembroke a managing sort of female, but truly, most people would be lost without her help. Why, the latest on-dit is that rakish Viscount Sheffield is canceling the fĂȘte of the year because he hasn't time for silly soirees. He doesn't need time—he needs her!

When a flash of lightning destroys the venue for his family's annual Christmas ball, Lord Benedict Sheffield intends to enjoy a relaxing holiday for once. But after twelve days of beguiling Lady Amelia's guerrilla tactics, he's up to his cravat with tinsel . . . and tumbling head over heels in love.

My Thoughts:
This was a sweet, fun read. The first two chapters really show their personalities. They are opposites, but you can tell they will complement one another. I enjoyed the humor.  Suddenly they are in love. I felt a bit like I missed something. It was rather rushed. It was a great quick read, though.  I like it.

Review: Alone (The Girl in the Box #1) by Robert J. Crane

Description:
Sienna Nealon was a 17 year-old girl who had been held prisoner in her own house by her mother for twelve years. Then one day her mother vanished, and Sienna woke up to find two strange men in her home. On the run, unsure of who to turn to and discovering she possesses mysterious powers, Sienna finds herself pursued by a shadowy agency known as the Directorate and hunted by a vicious, bloodthirsty psychopath named Wolfe, each of which is determined to capture her for their own purposes...

My Thoughts:
After finishing this, my first thought was that I'm glad there are 9 more books in the series. This is a great start. I was intrigued from chapter 1. There is a ton of action, suspense, and plenty of twists. There is some definite mystery that will likely take time to unfold. Sienna is an interesting character who can certainly take care of herself. There are so many questions left to explore. I'm hooked.

Review: Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Description:
Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

My Thoughts:
I have been hearing good things about Colleen Hoover for so long and finally made the time to read something. I was not disappointed. Hopeless was so. good. I loved the characters. Sky has had a tough life. She meets Holder by accident. He is sweet, but intense. Puzzling at times, but playful. He keeps her on her toes. The plot had twists that I didn't see coming and kept me guessing. I will definitely check out more by this author.

Review: Truly by Ruthie Knox

Description:
May Fredericks hates New York. Which is fair enough, since New York seems to hate her back. Just weeks after moving from Wisconsin to Manhattan, she receives the world's worst marriage proposal, stabs her boyfriend with a shrimp fork in a very public venue, and accidentally becomes notorious. And that’s before she gets mugged.

At her wit's end, May washes up at a Packers bar in Greenwich Village, where she meets a surly, unhelpful guy who hates her shoes and calls her ex a douche.

His name is Ben. He used to be a chef. Now he's a rooftop beekeeper with anger management issues. She wouldn't even like him, but he reminds her of home … and he knows where to find all the best food in the Village.

She makes him laugh. He buys her tacos and cowboy boots. The longer they’re stuck together, the better May and Ben get along … and the harder they fall. TRULY is a quirky, modern New York love story unlike any you've read before.

My Thoughts:
I seriously adored this book. I loved Ben and Meg and both of their quirks. I loved how they just worked together. It was funny and just a little heartbreaking and I read it in a day because I just couldn't stop. (This is why I had to wait until it was complete and couldn't read it as a serial.) If you are a fan of contemporary romance, this is a must read. And ok, I will admit, as a Wisconsin girl, it was fun to read all the Wisconsin stuff. It's not often you get to read about Packer fans from Wisconsin.
