Review: Spirit Fall by Tessa McFionn

Description:
The Guardians Book One

After a year-long depression following the murder of her fiancĂ©, Voni Whelan stands on a bridge, tormented by unending nightmares, one step away from jumping. Only the kindness of a seductive stranger brings her back down to earth. But the handsome stranger is more than meets the eye, and after a night of passion, Voni finds herself thrust into a strange new world.

For seven hundred years, Malakai Vadim has shouldered the mantle of Guardian Warrior. But a chance encounter with the tormented beauty brings him face to face with his destiny. His nemesis, Dmitrius Konstantin, has been feeding Voni’s grief through nightmares, wanting her and her untapped powers for his own. As Kai learns of his foe’s deadly interest, he must solve the riddle of Voni’s tortured dreams while holding his growing desire for her at bay.

Too bad the enemy Rogue Warriors have other plans. Now, along with fellow Guardian Eamon McClearon, Kai must venture into the In-Between, the enemy’s powerbase, to save her soul as well as his own. But can his love be strong enough to save them both?

My Thoughts:

I loved this. I was pulled in by the writing from the very beginning. The world building was well done and I enjoyed the characters. We have Voni and Kai, an insecure dancer and a warrior who was born in the 1300's. When Kai finds Voni she is standing on a bridge about to jump. He talks her down and recognizes her as his spiritmate. She is in danger but he can't tell her right away because she wouldn't understand. I was intrigued from the beginning and couldn't put it down. An excellent series start. There are enough loose ends to make me eager for another book.

Review: Cravings by Lynn Crandall

Description:
Were-lynx Kennedy's world implodes when she's sent to a facility for illegal and torturous experimentation. Only after she's rescued does she learn she's been living a lie for 22 years. She can count on nothing from her past - not her parents, her surname, or her safety. Only the brother she didn't know and his colony of were-lynxes offer any semblance of stability. Suspicious of everyone and unsure of her path forward, Kennedy reluctantly starts to realize that charming were-bobcat Asher Monroe might be her only hope.
Sportswriter Asher has been trying desperately to ferret out the truth behind why the sinister Nexus Group has been kidnapping and experimenting on were-cats. But he's also willing to use his special mind-controlling ability to discover whether the gorgeous Kennedy is a threat to the colony or simply a lost soul.
As their need for the truth takes them into escalating danger, they discover explosive secrets that could bring Kennedy and Asher together - or rip them apart forever.
Sensuality Level: Sensual

My Thoughts:
The story picks up from a previous book, and since I hadn't read it, I was a little lost for a while. There are many characters and it took a while to get everything straight. I liked the story, though. Kennedy's adoptive parents sent her to facility to be experimented on. She is rescued and finds out she has a brother and he takes her in and introduces her to his colony of cat shifters. She had never realized there were other were-lynxes until she was sent to be experimented on. She gets to know Asher, but they both have issues that makes a relationship difficult. I thought she trusted him pretty quickly, though, given her past. It is sweet with some suspense mixed in and if you like shifters this is a nice quick fix.
