Why BDSM Light - Guest Post by Mina Vaughn

Why BDSM Light
Hi everyone, thanks for having me! Today I’m here to talk about my newest book, How to Reprimand Your Rock Star, and discuss why I go light on the BDSM.
BDSM stands for Bondage, Dominance, Sadism and Masochism.
My books are heavy on the B and D but not on the S and M. But that does not make them “not BDSM”…it just makes them more about power and bondage and less about pain. Plain and simple.
The easiest answer is that I want to empower women and encourage them to explore what they want. The easiest way into BDSM isn’t through the S and M but through the power exchange of dominance. If you act as if you are in control, you are. What an easy way to get what you want in the bedroom! Being dominant doesn’t mean you inflict pain—the first step is just to be in charge, and let the other person submit to you.
The second step, for me at least, is some light bondage. The easiest way to dabble is with blindfolds, gags and maybe rope. That’s it. You can use ties, zip ties, bathrobe sashes, or even cute belts! Anyone can do it with anything on hand. It’s a simple way to put someone in their place.
That’s it, two steps to dabble in the world of B and D. If you want to take it to S and M, that’s your prerogative. I really just want people to have fun in the bedroom and for women to take the reins! We have these amazing bodies that are capable of crazy pleasure and yet sometimes we don’t assert ourselves enough.
Take what you want, by whatever means you have handy.
In my books, the women are in control. They’re not sadists and they’re sympathetic lovers. They aren’t hardasses or bitches, they just get what they want. In How to Reprimand Your Rock Star, Thea is a young basketball star who is put in the enviable position of being a Domme for a rocker. They learn this world together and it begins her sexual awakening in ways she never thought would happen. This is what I want for readers, to explore and find things out for themselves.
Thanks again for having me!

Description:
In this fun and saucy romance novel, all-star college basketball player Thea dominates on the courts—and off—with a rock star who is determined to win her over.

Thea is a star basketball player at UConn on track to be Rookie of the Year. That is, if she can stay focused on the game. Lately that hasn’t been going so well, as her knee has been bothering her. But that’s not the only thing on her mind…

Ever since rock star Keaton Lowe surprised her in the girl’s locker room, Thea can’t stop thinking about him. On top of his status and enticing ways, he seems to know everything about her. But some of his actions cross the line, and Keaton needs to be punished. Will Thea keep her head in the game, or get distracted by her other favorite pastime—reprimanding her rock star?
