Review: Warrior Girl by Matt Lazar and Amanda Thomas

Warrior Girl by Matt Lazar and Amanda Thomas

Description:
A beautiful young Korean girl, Sun Hi Kim, is beginning her first year at Oxford University. Thousands of miles away from home for the first time, she struggles to adjust to a different culture.

Sun Hi befriends two English boys. Miles is a handsome final year student who is also captain of the Oxford rowing team. Adam, a first year student who is also a hunk, hero-worships Miles, his rowing idol. Sun Hi knows that she's naive and has never had a boyfriend, let alone an English boyfriend. Her first forays into desire very nearly end in disaster.

Between rowing, her studies, boys, and an arrogant roommate, Sun Hi often feels overwhelmed. Playing World of Warcraft is the one thing she can do to escape her problems, at least for a little while.

My Thoughts:
This is an absolutely wonderful book and I loved it. I could not stop reading. It really is all about the characters. A quiet, timid girl, Sun Hi moves from Korea to Oxford for her studies. She ends up facing situations that test her. She is far away from home, has no friends that she can trust, and makes enemies without trying. She uses World of Warcraft as an escape from her life and it helps her through some difficult times. By the end of the book, she proves that deep inside she really is a warrior. I found myself rooting for Sun Hi and would love to read more about her.

  1. Once I started to read this book, I could not put it down. The characters all come to life. The story has meaningful lessons for people of all ages. This book is filled with action, romance, tears and cheers. The words paint pictures enabling you to feel like you are right there in the scenes. Very well written. There is The World Of Warcraft woven into the story line but even if you are not a gamer.. the story is about so much more then this. Sun Hi has alot to teach all of us. I bought the download copy of this but I am going to order the paperback so I can add it amoung my other wonderful books in my collection. I do hope this author continues his journey and maybe even has a second part to Sun Hi's many adventures in life.
